Poetic Pause #1 – Harsh

Welcome back! In this new series called ‘Poetic Pause’, I’ll be posting.. poems. Old poems, new poems, bad poems, kind-of-alright poems.. All kinds of poetry! I thought it would be a nice idea to bring some variety to the blog with something other than the usual ‘Daily Dose of Dave’. Let me know what you think!

If a word is like a dictionary
then synonyms are synonyms.
You are allowed to doubt,
but do not forget to think.

Its tentacles wrapped
firmly around your wrist;
Dismembering one of them
will not loosen the grip.

Emotion holds on
to the body and the soul,
but the last page of a dictionary
is rarely read at all.
